How to Get Your COVID-19 Economic Disaster Loan Forgiven

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 provides money for EIDL advances and grant funding that targets businesses that had to close because of the pandemic.

If you received grant money as a business owner, there is no expectation of returning it. This activity does not appear on your credit report because there isn’t a debt obligation to manage.

When you see a US SM BUS ADMIN ODA entry, that means a lender is involved with your business.

Most people would have this designation appear through the Paycheck Protection Program, or PPP, which closed in 2020, but reopened with the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Business owners could take a first and a second draw on a PPP loan, so it is possible for two fraudulent entries to be on your credit record.

If you took out an ODA loan, you might be eligible for forgiveness. You had to use the money during the covered period to maintain employment levels and compensation, the proceeds went to qualified expenses, and at least 60% of the money went to payroll.
